Our History
The founder of our practice, Dr. Fred D. Owens, moved to Dallas in 1971 and entered practice, specializing in Otology and Neurotology. Dr. Fred Owens had recently completed training in Los Angeles, and brought to Dallas knowledge of advanced surgical management of complex ear conditions. He performed the first reported cochlear implant surgery in Dallas, and founded the Dallas Foundation of Otology.
In 1999, Dr. Fred Owens was joined in practice by his son, Dr. Robert M. Owens, who had completed specialty training in Otology and Neurotology at the House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles. With the addition of another surgeon to the practice came expansion into Tarrant and Collin counties. Dr. Fred Owens eventually established the Hearing School of the Southwest, and Dr. Robert Owens assisted in the development of the school and in expanding the Dallas Foundation of Otology instructional courses.
